Industrial Wear member of Better Cotton
For a more sustainable future!
Industrial wear, which has always been attentive
to sustainability issues, has joined the Better Cotton program, proudly becoming a member.
Better
Cotton is
a global non-profit organisation and the largest cotton sustainability program
in the world. The mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive by
protecting and restoring the environment. It provides agricultural communities
with a fund for innovation and uses the membership fees to address the work
challenges that often exist in the agricultural sector. The objective is to
make cotton cultivation increasingly sustainable.
Fundamental principles

To achieve this mission, Better Cotton promotes initiatives aimed at farmers, centred on seven fundamental principles:
1. Crop protection: replacing the use of pesticides with alternative techniques;
2. Use of water in a sustainable manner;
3. Looking after soil health, because a healthy soil leads to more substantial and better quality crops;
4. Preservation and improvement of biodiversity;
5. Implementation of best practices for the collection, storage and transport of cotton fibres;
6. Decent working conditions;
7. Effective management system, adopting integrated policies and procedures.
The Better Cotton program therefore aims at reducing the use of chemical products, to prevent the negative effects these cause on the environment, at a more efficient use of water and at improving the living conditions of cotton farmers, with their consequent economic development.
Mass balance

This ever-evolving program creates new goals for itself and its members each year.
Better Cotton works with partners in the field around the world to support cotton communities and improve their livelihoods. By adhering to these principles, farmers produce cotton in a way that is better for themselves and for the environment. Particular attention is also paid to the equality of women within these communities, in order to enable them to achieve economic independence.
Being a member of this organisation means investing in more sustainable farming methods and procedures, creating a positive impact on the entire value chain.
Better Cotton is not physically traceable in the final products. In fact, this program is conceived as a custody chain framework called mass balance, as Better Cotton farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in volumes equivalent to those provided.

Payper's sustainable commitment
The collaboration with this organisation is
a source of pride for us. Helping cotton communities and taking care of the
environment is a goal we share, as it contributes to improving the social,
environmental and economic performance of the sector we are a part of. True to
our ethical approach, we rely on trustworthy and highly qualified suppliers
who share our values. In order to make the supply chain increasingly
transparent, most have joined the Better Cotton program, supporting our mission,
which is to promote the best practices of cotton cultivation globally.
This common purpose allows us to increasingly extend the quantity of products
made with sustainable cotton.
In just a few months, we have managed to
use sustainable cotton for the production of our main t-shirts and polo shirts.
Our objective is to produce 100% of our t-shirts, polo shirts and
sweatshirts with sustainable cotton by 2023, to then extend this commitment
to all our cotton items.
For an increasingly sustainable community and
future.
