A NEW CHALLENGE ON THE SANDS OF THE SAHARA
Agadir, 21 April 2023
- A new challenge begins for driver Andrea Schiumarini, who will surf the dunes
of the Sahara Desert during the Morocco Desert Challenge.
After three years of stop due to the Covid
restrictions, the 12th edition of what is considered the biggest Rally Raid in
Africa is back; with more than 1,000 participants including pilots and
mechanics, an organisational team of 200 people, perfected roadbooks,
navigation systems and top safety tracking, the event unites athletes and
sports enthusiasts in an adrenaline-packed appointment, full of surprises.
Born in March 2008 under the name of Libya Desert
Challenge, it arrived in Tunisia in 2013, before moving to Morocco.
The event has stood out thank to the charm of the
landscapes and the technical nature of the routes, characterised by a unique
detail: an itinerary totally immersed in bivouac areas, with no untimed
connecting sections, for a pure Rally experience.
“A new challenge which,
after 3 Dakar races, opens a new chapter where I will try to build new
projects, new collaborations and new perspectives” declares Andrea Schiumarini.
